Peter’s primary passion is playing horn in the orchestra. He is currently 2nd/Assistant Principal Horn with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra. From 2019 until March 2023, he filled the 3rd Horn chair with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, after holding a formal contract for the 2019/2020 season. Peter received his Master’s in Horn Performance from McGill University, studying with John Zirbel, and his Bachelor’s in Music from the University of Alberta with Allene Hackleman. He owes his first studies on horn to Mary Fearon at Alberta College.
Now based in Calgary, Alberta, Peter is an active performer, teacher, and arranger. He is the founder of the Northern Horn Quartet, for which he arranges and records music, and has also arranged works for the Edmonton Pops Orchestra. He continues to explore music publishing, recording, and creative projects.
Beyond classical music, Peter enjoys songwriting and rock and roll. His band Showbiz released their debut album in December 2019, and he shares some of his personal arrangements and creations on YouTube.
